La Mesa Rotary Sponsors Bikes for Kids

In December the La Mesa Rotary partnered with the Bikes for Kids organization and handed out 118 bikes and bike helmets to children at La Mesa Dale elementary school.  This was a huge undertaking!  Members of the La Mesa Rotary, Christian Brothers Cleaning & Restoration company, Mount Miguel High School and Patrick Henry High School Interact students and others came together to assemble all 118 bikes.  They then transported all 118 bikes to La Mesa Dale elementary.  The students were told to write an essay and the top 2 essays would win a new bike.  They did not know that we had a bike for every child!  They waited with anticipation to see who was going to win. Gave polite applause when the two winners were announced.  Then were screaming with excitement when they were told they all were winners!  Watch the slide show on the home page at www.laMesaRotary.org to see their excitement!  Thank you to all who were involved in this project.
